Phase I - Preparation
A1. Kickoff meeting
The project manager, Vilcan Adrian Dan from YES took part in the E+ Sport Kickoff Meeting in Brussels (29th January 2021).
A2. Preparation of the visual identity materials (Responsible: Young Europe Society, January-February 2021)
During this phase the project team created the logo of our project, and the design for:
- promotional t-shirts (50x)
- banner of the project (1x)
TPM1 Transnational Project Meeting (07-09.04.2021, Mezőberény, Hungary)
The first TPM was designed to unite the team, decide on the ground rules for the project, update the communication plan and prepare the first set of activities: creation of the webpage of the project, Server application development (server application to collect, process and serve NOTAM data).
Please see section F.3 for more details about this TPM.
Phase II - Implementation:
The development of the server application involves 4 activities:
A3. Collection and processing of controlled airspaces (22 February – 30 March 2021 )
A4. Build a process of querying NOTAMs on a daily basis (01 April -30 May 2021)
NOTAMs are issued by the national air traffic control authority and they change daily in function of current civil and military operations. The server application query NOTAMs of the air traffic control authorities of all EU Member States daily. Upon receiving the data, it processes and stores the data on the server.
A5. Build a process to serve data about controlled airspaces and current NOTAMs to the mobile application upon request (01 June -30 July 2021)
When a paraglider pilot opens the mobile application, he/she has the country, period and types of air traffic control data selected. The mobile application queries the server application with these settings. The server application fetches the relevant data and sends it in a response back to the mobile application.
A6. Test of the server application (01 August -15 September 2021)
TPM2 Transnational Project Meeting (27-29.08.2021, Costinești, Romania)
The second TPM aimed at evaluating the first six thematic activities and to plan the development of the next two phases of the project:
The design of the mobile application;
The development of the mobile applications for Android and iOS.
The design and development of the mobile applications involve 4 activities:
A7. Designing the mobile application: visual design, information architecture, interaction, usability, accessibility design (19 September – 30 October 2021)
A8. Mobile application development for Android (01– 30 November 2021)
A9. Mobile application development for iOS (01– 31 December 2021)
A10. Testing and fine tuning of the mobile application on Android and iOS systems (01 January – 16 February 2022)
TPM3 Transnational Project Meeting (06-08.04.2022, Mezőberény, Hungary)
The 3rd TPM was aimed to evaluate the Activities A7-A10 and to plan the Dissemination and Exploitation of Results.
Dissemination and Exploitation of Results is a key part of our project contributing to reaching the aim of increasing the safety in flight during paragliding flights. It is not enough to have the application and instructions on how to use it to increase safety in flight. Therefore in the next part of our project we focused on sharing the word about the existence of the NOTAM application to all EU member states.
The dissemination and exploitation of results involved 5 activities:
A11. Video tutorial on how to use the application (20 February – 30 March 2022)
A12. Promotion of the application on the partners’ websites and social networks accounts (01 – 30 April 2022)
A13. Promotion of the mobile application to at least one paragliding coordinating authority from each EU member state: (01 – 15 May 2022)
A14. Promotion of the application during a live event in each partner country (15 May – 16 September 2022)
A15. Promotion of the application via mass media (15 May – 16 September 2022)
TPM4 Transnational Project Meeting (Bucharest, Romania, 29-30 September 2022)
The 4th TPM was aimed to evaluate the Activities A11-A15 and to plan the follow-up of our project.
Phase III – Follow-up:
The follow-up phase of our project is of high importance. Once the project is over we will not have the financial support to keep the server and the application running, therefore during this phase we designed a follow-up plan to make sure we will be able to keep the application running and available for free to the end users on the long run.
The follow-up phase involves 4 activities:
A16. – Finalization of the follow-up plan (1-30 October 2022)
A17. – Final evaluation of the project (01 – 30 November 2022)
A18 – Centralize all the data needed for the final report (01 – 31 December 2022)
A19 – Finalization of the project (31 December 2022)
